EXHIBITED AT THE LONDON BARBICAN CENTRE AND AROUND ENGLAND .
EVERY PHOTOGRAPH HAS IN SOME WAY BEEN `SET UP` AND `MANIPULATED` EVEN BEFORE THE IMAGE IS CAPTURED BY THE CAMERA LATER
THEY CAN BE ALTERED, FALSIFY AND CREATE....A FEW YEARS AGO I FELL IN LOVE - WITH POLAROID FILM. THE APPEAL OF TAKING STRAIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY INTO THE REALMS OF FANTASY BECAME AN OBSESSION. I USE POLAROID`S SX-70 AND THEN `MANIPULATE` THE EMULSION WHICH GIVES A `PAINTERLY` EFFECT AND AS THIS PROCESS CANNOT BE REPEATED ABSOLUTELY, EVERY PICTURE IS AN ORIGINAL PIECE OF
WORK. THE DIGITAL WORK IS EITHER FROM A DIGITAL CAMERA OR A SCANNED PHOTOGRAPH THEN `ALTERED` AND PRINTED ONTO TREATED,
TEXTURED AND WATER COLOUR PAPERS. ALTHOUGH THE INKJETS HAVE BEEN VARNISHED WITH A U.V. PROTECTIVE COATING THEY SHOULD BE TREATED AS A WATER COLOUR PAINTING. images ©copyright Scarlet James 2546
