I´m a finnish painter and architect. I design mostly one family houses and other smaller projects.
My husband is an architect too. We have four children, an unfinished house in the
finnish southern archipelago and an old wooden sailing boat to explore the nature. The nature is the best way
to get over any minor worries and let your mind to rest. The other is painting, it is sort of meditation in the things
that I hold precious. This is what I wish to share with my pictures.
I´m working on getting some limited editions of posters of my work. So far I have just some postcards and
a poster of the portrait of my daughter Vivi (aged 1 in the picture)
I have been painting and drawing as soon as could hold a brush and a pencil. I´m a bit over fourty now and painting is still what I am most happy to do. I choose my subject mostly as would for totally abstract pictures for I think that
the composition is the key to all pictures. I´m fascinated with the nature and also beautiful manmade objects so I mostly want my paintings to picture real life too. The details of old wooden boats are my on top of my list for all the extra ideas they give the viewer. The work is about time reflecting on things, mostly on forms of nature and on natural materials. The stone is worn by the weather and the steel is eaten away with rust. The waters reflect the ever changing moments. You will never see the exact same waves and light again. Moments are precious. You need to appreciate what is now... carpe diem. images ©copyright Pirjo Raila 2565
