Recently I have been developing random images in wood in such a way that it exposes the grain giving the viewer an insight to the growth and character of the original tree. they are compact objects that have been made with a simple process and have the capability to be looked at as marquettes for larger pieces of work.
I have been working as a sculptor since graduating in 1994 and use several methods to develop my ideas. Casting, carving, construction and clay modelling. I feel very fortunate that I can manipulate most materials and don't get to involved with one process. The imagery that I use is quite offten taken from my home surounding people, objects, books and now the internet though my preferred choice is old encyclopaedias images ©copyright David Mcdiarmid 2669
