Haunting scenes from the past have compacted like rock under my feet and I
climb above it. I crush these residual feelings in my bare hands to use as
pigment, mixing well with colors and images that calm and soothe like
medication. I feel I have found a way to face my fears in my art and so
become my own angel and save myself..."
Born 1968, Santa Monica, CA. Carol Es has worked her entire life as a
self-educated artist. Her paintings show internationally and are featured
in numerous collections. From years of dedication, she has created an
impressive body of work, strewn with strong personal messages. With less
than an average education and no formal training, she has mastered a
distinct honesty in her work that collectors have come to count on and
enjoy. She sees the process of making art as an organic and subconscious
means to overcome past traumas and inner conflicts. A survivor of abuse and
disabilities, Carol has become an inspiration to many while creating raw
