On disply is a selection of works from Doug Hawkey
Doug Hawkey. Born…. 1951 Died…. not yet. Although I developed an interest in art when still quite young, it wasn’t until the age of about 20 that I produced any finished artwork. The drawings I produced at that time were mostly portraits of people I knew and all were done in pencil. This phase lasted less than a year and I only possess one drawing from that time, all the rest were given away to family and friends. Now more than thirty years later the interest has re-emerged and having been given a set of watercolour paints and completed a term of tuition at evening classes, I have been trying to make up for lost time. I paint mainly from photographs, and as most of the subjects are animals (birds, and horses) or people, this makes it a lot easier as long as the original photographs are of good quality. This has naturally led me to take my own photographs to ensure a clear image and get the best composition. images ©copyright Doug Hawkey 2097
