I attempt to take images out of their normal context and produce what I feel are sometimes painterly and at other times sensuous abstract shapes. In particular I am very strong on colour relationships.
I use in my pictures old walls, hoardings of torn posters, weather beaten doors, derelict buildings and various other decayed elements and fragments of man-made objects, together with weather ravaged natural objects such as tree bark. Strong light is a great aid in producing my pictures. This, together with strong silhouettes and shadows, can help transcend what otherwise would be mundane or featureless locations or particular things to reveal their abstract qualities. images ©copyright Colin Serjent 2189
